UniPsych Logo_Picturenoword.png

In its 5th iteration this year, UniPsych Symposium is an annual event reaching out to psychology undergraduates as well as members of the public. This year, we aim to continue to bring the exposure of the diverse psychology landscape in Singapore to our participants while expanding on networking opportunities between industry professionals and undergraduates. Through both new and returning speakers from diverse disciplines such as Forensic Psychology and Positive Psychology, we hope that participants will learn more about the countless careers that psychology has to offer.

Organisers' Information

inPsych

inPsych was founded on 23rd June 2016. We are registered with Singapore’s Registry of Societies, UEN: T16SS0124D. The Psychology scene in Singapore is rapidly growing with each passing day; however, most students or prospective students fail to have a good grasp of what the study of Psychology truly entails. Prior to enrolment, individuals may be clear on the course admission requirements only to have misconceptions or misrepresentations to what the discipline holds. Those amidst their term of study may also only discover midway the challenges and limitations Psychology holds. It is also a common trend for Singapore institutions to have a limited or absent representation for certain fields of Psychology. The process of having insufficient knowledge, exposure, and understanding while pursuing Psychology can result in anxiety and confusion, given the uncertain graduation and navigation.

The Society seeks to promote and disseminate knowledge in Psychology and its applications within the Singapore context for the benefit of the individual and society. It strives to make resources available for emerging and interested students wishing to study Psychology to better aid informed decisions and promote psychological well-being to all.

Previous Projects:
inPsych has supported the first Singapore UniPsych Symposium held on the 13th August 2016, co-organised by the Psychology Societies from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS). This Symposium was the first for the Singapore Psychology scene and gathered employers, alumni, postgraduates and undergraduates to discover more about Psychology and opportunities in Singapore. It also provided the platform for networking between schools and potential employers. The Symposium was well received with a total of 300 participants, 50 speakers and 25 talks ranging from Clinical to Sports Psychology.

inPsych is the corporate front of this committee and will be providing guidance for the organising of UniPsych Symposium 2022.

NTU Psychology Society

NTU Psychology Society is a student-run organisation by NTU undergraduates. We strive to create an educated awareness of, and to foster a greater interest in Psychology to the masses of NTU and beyond. We also hope to establish the recognition and credibility of NTU Psychology Society in Singapore by being an active member in the local Psychology scene. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for Society members and everyone in NTU to learn about Psychology and mental health in the common, everyday life, and to equip them with skills which they can apply in life to enrich themselves and/or others.

NTU Psychology Society is proud to be co-hosting this event, aiming to bring greater exposure to psychology students in Singapore.

NUS Psychology Society

The National University of Singapore (NUS) Psychology Society was established in 2006 to cater to the welfare of Psychology students. The main objectives of the society are to promote welfare and a sense of community among NUS Psychology students, as well as to promote, encourage, and support the study of Psychology by means of forums, talks, and dialogue sessions. The society organises career talks and alumni sharing sessions for students to learn more about the field of Psychology in the real world. NUS Psychology Society is also the organiser for the annual Psychology Camp, which provides a warm welcome and introduction to incoming freshmen. In addition, the society also seeks to foster greater awareness of mental health through our podcast episodes and social media initiatives.

Having collaborated with partner organisations such as Nanyang Technological University Psychology Society, James Cook University Singapore, Singapore Institute of Management, Singapore University of Social Sciences, and Murdoch University in past iterations of the UniPsych Symposium since 2016, NUS Psychology Society hopes to once again set a stage for tertiary education institutes to come together to explore and realise opportunities in the Psychology scene in Singapore.

SIM Psychology Society

SIM Psychology Society is a student-led society established with the support of the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM). With a shared interest in the field of psychology, students from SIM come together to promote greater awareness and understanding of psychology.

SIM Psychology Society is proud to be a co-host of UniPsych Symposium 2022 and hopes to uncover even more unexplored opportunities in Singapore’s Psychology scene.

SUSS PsyConnect

PsyConnect is a student interest group for the psychology students of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). Our vision is to be a bridge between students and the academic faculty, to provide all students/alumni with a strong social network, and to enrich psychological education through meaningful activities. We utilise a network that helps promote sharing among all students as well as organise activities that expose students to different psychological fields in Singapore. Through PsyConnect, our students have participated in volunteering sessions with mental health organisations, gone on field tours, and attended various career talks by industry professionals.

PsyConnect has partnered with organisations such as the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and Apex Harmony Lodge in organising volunteer activities to enrich the lives of residents. Each semester, we organise 3 sessions at IMH for students to be exposed to the area of mental health. Students have also widened their experiences during our prison tours where prison psychologists and wardens share their work with students. Past SUSS alumni in various fields of psychology, such as forensic psychology and clinical psychology, have continued to contribute by speaking at our networking and career talks at SUSS that is held every semester.
